Our History

With continuous efforts of our community over the years, On October 13, 2011, the Catechism classes for Syro Malankara children in Dubai started. With the aim of imparting knowledge of the tradition of our church and the liturgy, under the initiative of Fr. Mathew Kandathil and the Dubai Committee, Catechism classes started with 23 children divided into three groups.

By 2015, strength of the Catechism children increased to 100 and they were divided in 10 divisions as per the school grades. Since the existing facilities were inadequate, from January 20, 2017 onwards, every week we were able to conduct the Catechism classes at the St: Mary’s School classrooms. As per the requirement of St. Mary’s church and change in the timing of the Holy Mass, from September 2023 onwards, our classes were reorganized at 7:00pm-8:30pm on every Saturdays of the week.
